The weather was perfect for this type of adventure

We had a good group of riders; experienced, practiced and capable of handling themselves in this type of terrain. We knew each other well and had completed most of this route before, although today was the day we had been waiting for. A nice high-pressure system had set in and we had clear skies for days.
